New WAYF (Central Discovery Service) Interface

Posted on Thursday, 25 November 2010

On Wednesday 1st December 2010, the UK federation WAYF service (now known as the 'Central Discovery Service') will be given an improved user interface based on the results of user experience testing.

The new interface provides an "incremental search": that is, you start typing an organisation name and matching names immediately appear; you can then select the appropriate name directly.

This facility will allow most users to bypass the current drop-down list for the selection of their home organisation. As the number of identity providers has grown to over 650, this change is expected to deliver a significant benefit.

You can preview the new user interface through the test service provider at the following location:

This update to the Central Discovery Service is part of a continuing program of development. Further improvements should be expected during 2011.

Please contact the UK federation helpdesk if you have any questions about this update.
