JISCmail join the federation

Posted on Wednesday, 4 July 2007

JISCmail has joined the UK Access Management Federation as a Service Provider (SP) so that users of JISCmail can now make use of the Shibboleth Single Sign on infrastructure, allowing individuals to have a single set of credentials at their home organisation to authenticate them to the mailing list service and other Shibboleth enabled services. This will ease the burden on people having to remember countless username and password variations across multiple service providers.

There are a few simple steps that you need to go through to associate your current JISCmail login with your Shibboleth identity. These are documented through the JISCmail help pages.

Organisations wishing to allow their users to access JISCmail via Shibboleth will need to export the Targeted_ID for the service from their IdPs.

Information on the release of Shibboleth attributes is available from the Shibboleth website. Edited by SteveGlover on 28 August 2007, at 11:52 AM
